A2. Zodiac - "Pacific" (Ilya Santana Remix).mp3
B1. Zodiac - "Pacific" (Pete Herbert Remix).mp3

Almost 30 years after the release of their first album 'Disco Alliance', the music of Soviet electronic-disco group Zodiac still maintains its unique sound. Standing the test of the time, Zodiac's music has been held dear to the hearts of many disc jockeys, collectors and electronic enthusiast. One of the standout tracks 'Pacific' which truly defined their atmospheric, synthesizer disco sound, will now be available on 12" single by the label Mellophonia. To honor its re-release, the song will be accompanied by two outstanding remixes by Ilya Santana and Pete Herbert. Ilya's version emphasizes the synth melodies with a modern, crowd friendly mix that still remains true to the original. Pete Herbert's takes his mix in a different direction with a very nice old school house version complete with piano and grooving bassline. Both remixes really bring together the melodic disco and electronic sounds of both eras making this record a must have for both djs and fans of electronic, cosmic and nu-disco music.

B2. Frederic Mercier - "Island".mp3

Originally composed in 1978, the ultra classic synthesizer-disco-pop album “Pacific” by Frederic Mercier is finally being given its due credit. Appearing on many dj playlists and even more collector wishlist, it has not been easy to find copies of his work. This debut album from Mercier not only shows his true talent, diversity but also why his music so sought after to this day. From the slo-mo cosmic classic “Spirit” to the french electronic pop sound of “Station 713”, Mercier plays a beautifully orchestrated album of Moog filled space anthems. Thirty years later his music continues with the re-mastered release of four tracks from “Pacific” by the label Mellophonia. These selected songs will take you back on a journey to France in '78 with a smile on your face the entire time. Recommended for djs and fans and of the french cosmic sound, library disco, and outerspace instramentals.

ASTROPORT - "Midnight At Mars" [MLPHEP03] 9/03/2009

A1. Astroport - "Midnight At Mars" (Part 1).mp3
B1. Astroport - "Midnight At Mars" (Part 2).mp3

another release from mellophonia is dance-floor directed production. there are two tracks, similar in the mood and expressiveness but different in sound diversity. both are awesome synth-laden mixes of pulsating rhythm and heavy basslines with obvious disco influence. overall it features the pure sound, excellent groove combined with delicate rhythm feeling, and, of course, another original artwork from 1976 by soviet illustrator g. tischenko.

RITMOLIDER - "The Moon String Ensemble" [MLPHEP02] 23/02/2009

A1. Ritmolider - "The Moon String Ensemble" (Part 1).mp3
A2. Ritmolider - "The Moon String Ensemble" (Part 2).mp3
B1. Ritmolider - "The Moon String Ensemble" (Part 3).mp3
B2. Ritmolider - "Images From The Lander".mp3

unlike "kaleidoscope ep" this record seems to be more developed and directioned with well thought-out musical themes; the music has become more dinamic, more energetic and emotional. the first track starts right away with a breathtaking groove, powerful rhythm section with punchy snaredrums, expressive percussions and so strong bassline. the main theme of the record, part 2, is a true space-disco classics, where the author has managed to create an illusion of real ensemble in adaptation of subtle electronics that displays characteristic expressiveness of live music; hypnotic strings, beautiful arpeggio and the bassline that changes so excitingly... on the reverse there's a tasty cosmic style track with slow rhythm and simple tune playing together with an elegant accompaniment, from time to time being covered by melodic strings creating a very playful feeling. the last track is amazing electric dub disco with alluring basslines and energetic 80's style chords, a simple but perfect composition. on the whole the record features warm, clear and rich sound.

RITMOLIDER / BEAT BROKER Remix - "Kaleidoscope" [MLPHEP01] 05/01/2009

A1. Ritmolider - "Kaleidoscope" (The Beat Broker Remix).mp3
A2. Ritmolider - "Futuristic Romance".mp3
B1. Ritmolider - "Kaleidoscope".mp3
B2. Ritmolider - "Tonight At The Discotheque".mp3

the debut record of ritmolider "kaleidoscope" is a traditional studio work with live performance and classic analog sound. being in the era of nu disco and re-edits the author has tried to find his own way of making music based on traditional methods of performance. and he's got a beautiful symbiosis of instrumental improvisations and electronic melodiousness. at the begining of the record there's a superb remix by the beat broker. deep, groovy synth-disco, highly recomended for dance-floor! the second track is a journey into obscure psychedelic funk with lots of improvisations and atmospheric tunes....a pity so sweet percussions are added so late. b2 "tonight at the discotheque" will carry you away by the real soviet disco vibe. a beautiful arp solo softly flowing through amazing effects and acoustic drums focused on free played funky basslines. the original version of "kaleidoscope" is also a very interesting one. a mood of this composition is changed all the time. the first seconds of the track you hear a tender melodic solo which makes you feel calm and relaxed, then you get the groove coming from an agressive arpeggio and dinamic percussion. soon this feeling gets interrupted with a sudden slap-bass impromtu playing together with a synthy accompaniment, and it turns into another feeling, and so on... this really reminds of kaleidoscope effect!
